Female pedestrian injured in Connecticut car crash

A woman has been hospitalized after getting hit by a car at a Connecticut intersection. The 27-year-old suffered numerous injuries after she was hit just outside the New Haven area.

The pedestrian accident occurred at Washington Avenue and Main Street. The victim was taken to a local hospital. The precaution turned out smart because while her injuries appeared to be minor at first, they ended up being more serious in nature. The woman had broken her hip and several other bones. It is believed that she has many other injuries as well.

No other details have been released about the crash. It is unknown if the motorist stopped at the scene or if this was a hit-and-run accident. The accident is still under investigation.

Although some pedestrian accidents are caused by the pedestrian's negligence, most are caused by distracted drivers. Many accidents occur at night, when it is more difficult to see pedestrians in the roadways. Speed and failure to obey street signs and signals are also factors. Many motorists are always in a hurry and fail to look in all directions before attempting to turn or cross an intersection.

Pedestrians and motorists must obey the laws of the road. If it can be proven that the driver's negligence caused the injuries, then the victim may be able to recover compensation through a personal injury lawsuit. The woman will likely require surgery and physical therapy to recover from her injuries. Through a lawsuit, the woman can receive financial compensation for her medical expenses, as well as lost wages, pain and suffering, and possibly other damages.
